NORTHERN WATERSNAKE
Nerodia sipedon sipedon

As their name suggests, northern watersnakes are almost always found in or near water - be it a pond, lake, stream, or ditch.  Common in many parts of Ontario, watersnakes are non-venomous and feed mainly on fish and frogs.  Measuring 60-105 cm in length, watersnakes will often investigate splashing objects in the hopes of finding prey.  However, they do not pose a danger to humans, and usually flee when they realize humans are present.
