November 2003 Sightings in the Windsor Area
Wednesday, November 26: There are still a few Tufted Titmice in the local area. Two were seen at Brunet Park on November 23 (P. Pratt). Highlights from the birding trip to Point Pelee on November 22 included large numbers of diving ducks including Long-tailed Duck and all three scoter species. A Northern Saw-whet Owl was found perched in a small cedar. It had a White-footed Mouse clutched in its talons. The last snake sightings of the season were of a Butler's Garter Snake on November 19 (D. Wylie) and an Eastern Garter Snake on November 20 (C. Parks). Leaf drop at Ojibway was largely complete by mid month. Only a few New England Asters remain in flower. Several Fox Sparrows and a Red-bellied Woodpecker were visiting the centre's feeders in mid November. A Red-headed Woodpecker was present on November 1.
