Tuesday, January 12: A Fox Sparrow has been coming to the nature centre feeders since January 10.

Ojibway's birding trip to Point Pelee on January 9 had several highlights including Horned Larks and Snow Buntings in the snow covered fields, three Bald Eagles in a single tree, 20 Wild Turkeys, Great Blue Heron, dark phase Rough-legged Hawk, 8 Northern Harriers, Great Horned Owl, American Robin and Hermit Thrush. The lake on the entire west side of the park was frozen but the lake was completely open on the east side. Waterfowl were generally scarce but a Purple Sandpiper was an unexpected bonus.

Friday, January 1: The Detroit River CBC was held today. It covered the Detroit River from Lauzon Road downriver to the north end of Fighting Island. 51 species were recorded. Visit the bird count page for a complete list of birds seen.

A few highlights include:
Bald Eagle 1 adult, 1 immature
Tufted Titmouse 12
American Robin 14 - in Ojibway Prairie
Eastern Bluebird 3 - in Ojibway Prairie
Northern Mockingbird 1

Other counts held in the local area over the holiday season included:
